Kaiping Diaolou and villages have stepped into the cultural vision of the world.
Kaiping Diaolou, located in Kaiping City under the jurisdiction of Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province, is a special type of Chinese vernacular architecture.
It is a multi-storey tower building integrating defense, residence and Chinese and Western architectural arts. It is characterized by Chinese and western residential buildings, with various styles such as ancient Greece, ancient Rome and Island.
On June 25, 2001, it was approved by the State Council to be included in the fifth batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
On June 28, 2007, "Kaiping watchtower and ancient village" applied for the world cultural heritage project, which was approved at the 31st World Heritage conference in New Zealand and officially listed in the world heritage list, becoming the 35th World Heritage site in China, thus the first overseas Chinese cultural heritage project was born in China.
In December 2017, it was selected as the second batch of China's 20th century architectural heritage.
Kaiping blockhouse combines the unique architectural art of Chinese traditional rural architectural culture and Western architectural culture, and becomes a monument of Chinese overseas Chinese culture, reflecting the process of Chinese overseas Chinese and people actively accepting western culture.
In Kaiping architecture, there are different styles of foreign architecture in different periods, such as the colonnade of ancient Greece, the colonnade, arch and vault of ancient Rome, the Gothic pointed arch and Islamic arch of European Middle Ages, the components of European castle, the arcade in Portuguese architecture, the Renaissance period of literature and art and the Baroque architecture of 17th century Europe.
